The ROSE Response to COVID-19
As coronavirus begins to spread in Kenya, ROSE women are ready to prevent the spread. Urban slum dwellers suffer severe loss of income because of COVID-19. Many ROSE women’s businesses are closed and those who are allowed to be open are losing income. Our business training programs are slowed because we cannot meet women in large groups for coaching sessions.
Our response is three-fold to support economic, physical and spiritual well-being.
Support a soap production co-op to employ women in dire need.
Provide emergency business grants and loans to 100+ ROSE women.
Launching virtual coaching and investment pilot to connect women globally and continue capacity building.
All support towards ROSE’s COVID-19 relief plans are 100% tax-deductible.
Paulina is a single mother of 5 children, and makes beadwork for tourism market sales. The market where she sells her products is closed and the tourism market is shut down.
ROSE trainers taught her to budget her finances to ensure she can feed her family through these hard times. She was employed by the soap co-op to earn an income while her business is closed.
“This is the best day yet since I joined ROSE, I give all the glory to God.”
Lucinda is headmaster to a school of 300+ primary school children. When schools shut down, she lost all her income and is unable to pay her teachers.
ROSE taught Lucinda to apply for an emergency grant and loan. She receives emergency capital and crisis management mentorship via Zoom. Lucinda helps ROSE to teach other women to apply for emergency capital.
“Praise the Lord, ROSE is an answer to my deepest prayers. I work hard to help other women in ROSE grow.”
